2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

The music video has got elements to it that where brainstormed to have connections with all other pieces of work we’ve done like the magazine advert and CD covers. Some elements that are clearly visible are the black and white effects used in most parts of our video but similar effects were used in the production of the CD covers i.e. blur and filters. This added depth into both our video and CD covers.

Here we see the the blur and washout effects being used to give the image a different style and point of attraction. this picture is actually one of the first pictures we started off with and had a purpose of being our backup picture for the CD cover. this picture was also taking around the set for the video shoot, reason why it might be spotted in some scenes of the video.

The back cover has many diffferent meanings behind and there is a reason for the use of each and every effect visualised in this picture. for example; the two main actors/ cast of the video

have their backs turned to the camera is to portray an end to the CD and the loneliness in the video. this picture also features a variety of effects like the red filter and the blur used.

Evaluation: How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?

We tried to be as effecient as possible and use the facilities provided in the best possible way. The most simple and effective technology used was the camera. With this we were able to capture raw film and pictures. However, we were careful to consider the camera angles as each angles connotes a different meaning. We then used Final Cut Pro to fine tune our ideas, produceing a refined conventional video.

Reaserch into Indie-Pop Genre

Indie-pop genre originated in Scotland during the mid 80's and streamed from rock music with Postcard record labal establishing themselves with thier new innovative and pioneering take on music, such as Oranage Juice and Joseph K. This risky move could have cost them everything yet paid off as today Indie-Pop has reched new relms, having a massive impact worldwide.

Today, within the vast music industry Indie-Pop has not been dialuted much, maintaining its raw cultural and political background. Regards to popularity, London clubs such as 'How Does it feel to be Loved?' still air raw off tape. In Sweden however, Indie-Pop has flurished with Labrador records. The Sweeds adore the narrow genre and have produced numerous artist such Peter Bjorn and John and Shout Out Loud to name a few. This puts the scale of Indie-Pop in a whole new perspective, and illustraits our challenge to maintain the raw elements its bulit upon. Yet, we have produced our own unique take on the Indie-Pop genre as you can appreciate further in our evaluation on Coventions.
